Utah election results 2024: Donald Trump wins

Send Push
Donald Trump has claimed victory in Utah, securing the state’s six Electoral College votes. In the 2020 election, Trump won the state with 58% of the vote, while Joe Biden garnered 38%. In 2016, Trump secured Utah with 46% of the vote compared to Hillary Clinton’s 28%.

Utah, known for being a Republican stronghold largely due to its significant Mormon population, last supported a Democratic presidential candidate in 1964 when it voted for Lyndon B. Johnson.

Despite Utah’s Republican leanings, past elections have shown only lukewarm support for Trump, whose outspoken demeanor and remarks about immigrants have clashed with the values of some members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Mormons, who comprise roughly half of Utah’s 3.4 million residents, have a history of favoring moderate Republicans in state elections. The Associated Press called the race for Trump at 10:00 pm EST.

In his victory speech, Trump thanked the supporters for electing him back and said this period would usher in a new era of national reconciliation.

"I want to thank the American people for the extraordinary honour of being elected your 47th president, and your 45th president," he said. "America has given us an unprecedented and powerful mandate. We have taken back control of the Senate – wow that's good," Trump declared to his supporters in Florida.
