Following his election victory, Donald Trump remained away from public view, receiving congratulatory messages from various quarters whilst beginning the transition process. His first day as president-elect was marked by phone conversations with his rival and current leaders, AP reported.

After Trump's early morning address to supporters in Florida, Hillary Clinton phoned to concede defeat and offer congratulations. President Joe Biden extended an invitation for an Oval Office meeting to facilitate the handover process.

The White House confirmed Biden's conversation with the president-elect, highlighting their mutual commitment towards a seamless transition and the vital need for national unity.

Biden reached out to Vice President Kamala Harris to commend her campaign efforts. In a separate conversation between Trump and Harris, the president-elect praised her campaign qualities, with both emphasising national unity as paramount, according to Trump's spokesperson Steven Cheung.
