Motorola’s latest smartphone has just landed in our office, and it’s already making an impression with its sleek, lightweight design. The unit we received sports a Vegan Suede back in “Koala Grey,” which gives it a premium feel without the fuzzy texture of natural suede. Instead, it’s closer to the smooth, buttery feel of synthetic microfiber, which adds a touch of elegance to the device. Motorola is also offering the Edge 50 in a bold Pantone 2024 Color of the Year, “Peach Fuzz.”

For those wanting extra protection, Motorola includes a slim protective case in the box that covers the top and bottom of the device, maintaining its slim profile. This thoughtful packaging approach is also eco-friendly Motorola has opted for a recyclable box that reflects their commitment to sustainability. However, this does mean there’s no charging adapter included, with just a USB-C to USB-C cable provided. The Edge 50 supports up to 68W charging, though users in select markets may still get a bundled charger.

Motorola also makes durability a top priority. The device is IP68-rated for water and dust resistance and comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5, ensuring its Grade A durability and a Grade B repairability rating a thoughtful consideration for users prioritizing longevity.

Under the hood, the Edge 50 packs the same camera setup as the Edge 50 Neo, but with the added benefit of a Qualcomm chipset to boost processing speed, potentially enhancing image quality. Its 5,000 mAh battery should promise longer performance, with our Battery Life Test 2.0 on the way to confirm just how enduring this device is.

Stay tuned for our comprehensive review of the Motorola Edge 50, where we’ll dive into its performance, camera capabilities, and battery life. This device could be the perfect blend of style, power, and eco-conscious design.
