: There’s good news for central government employees and pensioners. A 3-4% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) is expected to be announced in the cabinet meeting on October 9th.

Currently, the DA stands at 50%, and with the proposed hike, it may increase to 53% or 54%. This hike will be effective from July 1st, and employees will also receive a 3-month arrears in their October salary. Additionally, a Diwali bonus is also expected, providing an additional benefit to employees.

Good News for 1 Crore Central Employees!

The government is planning to increase the DA from 50% to 54%. Earlier this year, in March 2024, the government had increased the DA by 4%, bringing it to 50%. The DA is reviewed every six months, and its impact is considered effective from January 1st and July 1st, even if the announcement is made later. This time, the DA hike announcement may be made in October, providing relief to central government employees before Diwali.

Government to Increase Dearness Allowance by 4% Dearness Allowance (DA) is crucial for employees and pensioners as it is based on the average of the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI). If there is a 3% increase this time, then those with a basic salary of Rs. 18,000 will see their monthly DA increase from Rs. 9,000 to Rs. 9,540. With a 4% increase, it could reach Rs. 9,720. The DA hike provides relief to government employees in the face of inflation, thereby increasing their purchasing power.

Relief for Employees and Pensioners During Festive Season

The expected DA hike announcement in October is likely to provide relief to employees and pensioners during the festive season. This will directly benefit approximately 1 crore government employees and pensioners, improving their financial situation. The DA hike helps in combating inflation, and currently, the government is focusing on controlling inflation while also increasing the DA. Additionally, there are ongoing discussions about the eighth pay commission, which could lead to further improvements in salaries in the future.

In essence, the news of a potential DA hike is a welcome relief for central government employees and pensioners. The increase in DA will not only help them cope with rising inflation but also provide a financial boost during the festive season.
