The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released a robust manifesto for the Maharashtra Assembly elections 2024, presenting a bold vision to uplift citizens and propel Maharashtra’s economy. Aimed at reaching the grassroots, the manifesto outlines significant financial, educational, and welfare commitments, signaling a transformative shift for Maharashtra’s development over the next five years.

Key Promises: Empowering Women, Farmers, and Senior Citizens

Among the most notable pledges, the BJP plans to deposit Rs 25,000 annually into the account of every woman in the state. Under the updated Kisan Samman Yojana, the annual assistance to farmers will increase from Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000. For Maharashtra’s senior citizens, the manifesto offers a monthly pension of Rs 2,100—totaling about Rs 25,000 per year. To support Maharashtra’s youth, BJP also promises monthly stipends of Rs 10,000 to one lakh students.

Strengthening Rural Infrastructure and Employment

A strong focus on rural development is evident in the promise to construct “water roads” across 45,000 villages, aiming to improve access and communication. Grassroots workers such as Anganwadi and ASHA workers are set to receive a monthly wage of Rs 15,000, underscoring the party’s commitment to rural welfare. The BJP promises a reduction in agricultural electricity bills by 30% through increased solar energy adoption and has already waived off agricultural pump bills, providing further support to farmers.

Economic Transformation: Vision Maharashtra 2029

In a move to shape Maharashtra’s economic future, BJP has committed to presenting “Vision Maharashtra 2029” within the first 100 days of taking office. With ambitions of making Maharashtra a trillion-dollar economy, the manifesto envisions technological growth, including “Make in Maharashtra” initiatives, connecting industrial hubs like Nagpur, Pune, and Nashik, and promoting the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced technology.

To stabilize agricultural prices, the BJP has pledged a minimum price of Rs 6,000 per quintal for soybeans, along with tax concessions on fertilizers. Moreover, the manifesto outlines the creation of a Rs 1,000 crore revolving fund to empower women-led self-help groups, with a goal to create 50 lakh financially independent “lakhpati didis” within three years.

Technological and Educational Reforms

Educational advancements are also prioritized, with free food grains to be provided to underprivileged families via the Akshay Anna Yojana. Robotics and AI training in schools will become standard, supported by initiatives such as the Maharathi and Atal Tinkering Labs. Furthermore, a statewide skill census aims to align workforce development with industry demands, preparing Maharashtra’s youth for future job markets.

The BJP also promises to establish Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Aspiration Centers in every district, designed to foster one million entrepreneurs. Students from marginalized backgrounds, including OBC, SEBC, EC, and VJNT, will receive full education and examination fee waivers, promoting accessible education for all.

Women’s Empowerment and Youth Engagement

To empower women, a revolving fund of Rs 1,000 crore will be allocated to self-help groups, aiming to create financially independent women, or “lakhpati didis,” across Maharashtra. Health and wellness also take center stage with the Swami Vivekananda Youth Health Card initiative, ensuring annual check-ups for youth and senior citizens, while conservation efforts focus on Maharashtra’s historical forts, preserving the state’s rich heritage.

Social and Environmental Welfare

Promising to enact laws against forced religious conversions and curb fraudulent conversions, the manifesto reflects the BJP’s stance on religious integrity. Further pledges include using advanced technology to prevent human-wildlife conflicts, protecting lives from wild animal encounters. Welfare measures will extend to senior citizens through Aadhaar-enabled services in government hospitals, ensuring access to essential health services.

A Vision for Inclusive Growth and Justice

With this comprehensive manifesto, the BJP promises an all-encompassing approach to development that spans economic empowerment, technological progress, educational upliftment, and social welfare. Emphasizing their commitment to “inclusive growth,” the manifesto suggests an agenda where agricultural, educational, technological, and social reforms play a critical role in Maharashtra’s journey towards becoming an economic powerhouse.

As the 2024 Assembly elections approach, Maharashtra will soon determine whether BJP’s vision aligns with the aspirations of its people. If implemented, this ambitious blueprint may well redefine Maharashtra’s economic and social landscape, creating a prosperous, inclusive future.
