In a powerful stride towards women’s empowerment, the Madhya Pradesh cabinet has approved an unprecedented 35% reservation for women across all state government services. The announcement followed a high-stakes cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday, further underscoring the state’s commitment to inclusivity and gender parity.

A Milestone in Women’s Empowerment

Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla shared the cabinet’s historic decision, which increases women’s reservation from the previous 33% to 35% in all government recruitment. “This decision, now officially approved by the cabinet, is a substantial step towards empowering women throughout the state,” said Shukla. With this progressive move, the government aims to create more equitable opportunities for women in the workforce, setting a benchmark in the state’s journey toward gender equality.

Other Major Cabinet Decisions: From Fertilizer Outlets to Thermal Power Projects

Beyond the milestone for women, the cabinet also approved a series of pivotal measures poised to drive growth and development in Madhya Pradesh. Among them, 254 new fertilizer sales outlets will be established statewide, addressing the needs of farmers and boosting agricultural support. Additionally, the cabinet sanctioned the development of a 660 MW thermal power plant in Sarni, strengthening the region’s energy infrastructure.

As part of this power project, a total of 830 MW capacity from older plants will be retired, with two units of 205 MW each and another two units of 210 MW each being phased out.

New Recruitment Policies in Education and Industry

Further emphasizing its support for employment and industry, the cabinet greenlit a decision to raise the upper age limit for assistant professor recruitment in medical colleges from 40 to 50 years. This change is expected to provide broader access to employment for experienced professionals, enhancing the quality of medical education across the state.

Reflecting on the success of the Regional Industrial Conclave in Rewa, Deputy CM Shukla announced that the event attracted an investment proposal volume of ₹31,000 crore from around 4,000 investors and traders, which is set to create over 28,000 job opportunities in Madhya Pradesh.

A New Chapter for Madhya Pradesh

These decisions by the Madhya Pradesh government highlight a bold vision for economic progress and social empowerment, creating pathways for women and fostering economic growth across sectors. As the state moves forward with these transformative policies, it reaffirms its commitment to inclusive development, setting a benchmark for progress that places women and industry at the forefront of Madhya Pradesh’s future.
