Apple Vision Pro 2 Development Tipped to Begin in 2025 With M5 Chip and AI Spatial Computing Capabilities

Apple Vision Pro 2 was said to be in the pipeline and could start development as soon as sometime next year. A mixed reality headset, per an industry analyst, will reportedly be supported by a next-generation Apple silicon chipset and could support Apple Intelligence, which is the suite of artificial intelligence (AI) features that might just make the overall user experience of the headset better. This is based on reports that the Cupertino-based tech giant would also drop a budget version of the Vision Pro with less feature-rich content and lower-resolution OLED displays to keep costs low.

Apple To Launch Successor To Vision Pro

Market analyst Ming-Chi Kuo points out that Apple could start mass-producing its Vision Pro successor as early as next year, with the second half of 2025 most likely. This reported device will be arriving as Apple’s second spatial computer and can be expected to bring several under-the-hood upgrades.

According to the report of an analyst, it is going to be powered by an Apple M5 chip itself, which, in itself, would be a successor to the M4 that the Cupertino-based tech giant debuted with its latest iPad Pro lineup in May this year. The same chip is said to offer AI features powered by Apple Intelligence. The Vision Pro, meanwhile, is powered by the Apple silicon M2 chip. So, if it’s supposed to be a reality, this would spell a big upgrade in terms of computing power, at least on paper.

It is also likely to make the “human-machine user interface,” which has proven to be one of the biggest hurdles for head-mounted display devices, better. Apple Intelligence, accompanied by gesture control and eye-tracking capabilities, could provide a more intuitive experience this time round. The analyst believes that the features from Apple’s AI alongside those of gesture control and eye-tracking could be more prominent than others, even iPhones.
