The series was recently launched in India and globally, and according to leaks and rumors, it’s now the turn of the iPhone 17 series phones. Although Apple is more likely to come out with its alleged iPhone 17 Air next year, there comes a report that this model will feature a new type of OLED display, manufactured by a Taiwanese brand. Though the launch is not yet confirmed, the iPhone 17 Air may hit the shelves with the name iPhone 17 Slim. Here are the specs of the iPhone 17 Air.

Display details of iPhone 17 Air
  • Taiwan-based chipmaker Novatek has plans to start mass-producing OLED displays with TDDI-based touch and display driver integration, according to a recent DigiTimes report.
  • The touch sensor layer and the display driver have been combined within one panel. Meant to slash the complexity of a thin design and infuse life with function.
  • Semiconductor manufacturing will begin in the second quarter 2025. Interestingly, a point that was mentioned about this report that has Apple possibly among Novatek’s first clients: just speculation.

So far, both of the companies did not confirm that the Novatek’s display would include the iPhone 17 Air. However, a production schedule and the release date in autumn 2025 tell us so.

Notably, recently, it was reported that the iPhone 17 Air as well as the iPhone 17 would come with a 120Hz refresh rate with ProMotion technology that generally suggests that the display technology is going to be high-level advanced compared to the present devices of iPhone 16 as the former supports only the 60Hz refresh rate. But the new iPhone 17 Air may use some new technology about the display for hosting this higher refresh rate.

iPhone 17 series: what to expect
  • The rumored iPhone 17 Air or iPhone 17 Slim will be the one that fills the gap of the company to remove the Plus variant and will have a more sleek design than other iPhones.
  • iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Slim may boast 8GB RAM. The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will be equipped with 12GB RAM.
  • Contrary to some speculations, the yet-to-be-released iPhone 17 series may not support the under-display Face ID technology.
  • iPhone 17 Pro Max might come with a fresh cooling system enhanced by graphite sheets and vapour chamber technology for excellent dissipation of heat.

These details about the iPhone 17 series are speculation-based so that they should be received with a grain of salt.
