As November unfolds, much of North India, including Delhi, is still feeling the lingering warmth, with winter’s chill yet to arrive. However, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in several southern states over the next few days, as well as updates on the anticipated arrival of colder temperatures in northern regions.
North India Weather Update: Mild Chill Expected SoonThough North India remains warmer than usual, the Meteorological Department predicts a dip in temperatures between November 8 and 15, marking the initial arrival of winter. In Delhi, where the sun continues to be intense during the afternoons, mornings are expected to be foggy, with minimum temperatures around 17.6°C and highs reaching 32°C today. Over the next week, Delhi’s maximum temperature may touch 33°C, while the minimum could drop to 16°C. However, pollution remains a concern, with air quality expected to impact the region for the next 10 days.
In the hill states, temperatures are falling steadily. In areas like Anantnag, Kukernag, Kupwara, and Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, minimum temperatures could drop between 1°C and 6°C, while maximums are expected around 20°C. Uttarakhand’s capital, Dehradun, is experiencing minimums between 15°C and 16°C. Himachal Pradesh is seeing maximums around 18-20°C, with minimums between 8°C and 11°C.
South India and Coastal Regions: IMD Issues Heavy Rain AlertThe Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rains across parts of South India. Cloudy weather is expected in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and Mahe, with intense showers likely from November 8 to 11. South Tamil Nadu and Coastal Andhra Pradesh could experience downpours along with thunderstorms between November 8 and 10, while the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are set to receive heavy rainfall today.
Bihar’s Weather During Chhath PujaIn Bihar, today marks the second day of Chhath Puja, known as Kharna Day. Fortunately, the weather remains clear and dry, allowing devotees to perform rituals without rain interruptions. Although temperatures are slightly higher than the average for this season, a mild chill is in the air, marking the start of cooler days.
Winter Is on the WayAs we move further into November, the country’s weather patterns reflect the contrasting conditions between North and South India. While South India prepares for heavy rains, North India eagerly awaits the onset of winter. The IMD’s latest updates show how these changing dynamics will impact daily life in the coming days, whether it’s preparing for rain in the South or for winter’s approach in the North.
