CBSE has announced a crucial decision allowing students from schools that recently lost affiliation to still appear for the 2024-25 board exams from their current schools. Moreover, these schools will have the option to apply for a restoration of affiliation up to the secondary level after one year, in the academic year 2026-27.

Inspections Lead to Affiliations Cancelled for Several Schools

In a recent inspection carried out by CBSE in Delhi and Rajasthan in September, 27 schools were issued show-cause notices due to various compliance concerns. Schools were given a 30-day period to respond to these notices, but after a careful review, CBSE decided to cancel the recognition of 21 schools, primarily in Delhi. Additionally, six schools were downgraded from the senior secondary to secondary level. The primary reasons cited were issues with record-keeping, student attendance, and non-compliance with CBSE’s pupil-teacher ratio standards.

The schools were found lacking in essential documentation such as admission records, attendance registers, and proper student-to-teacher ratios. This decision reflects CBSE’s commitment to ensuring quality and accountability across affiliated institutions.
