Principal secretary reviews Maha Kumbh devpt work

Prayagraj: A review meeting of the various works being carried out in the district to make Maha Kumbh 2025 divine and grand was held today at the office of the Kumbh Mela Authority under the chairmanship of principal secretary, urban development Amrit Abhijat. During the meeting, the projects being implemented by various departments were reviewed.

While informing about the updated status of all the projects, Kumbh Mela Adhikari, Vijay Kiran Anand, provided detailed information about the critical projects lagging behind.

The Principal Secretary expressed concern over the problems being faced in the works of ghat construction being done by the irrigation department due to floods and rains.

He directed that the works be completed within the stipulated time by increasing manpower in all the works as soon as the rain stops.

He also directed that he should be informed about the progress of the works through video conferencing every night for progress review.

In the same sequence, upon finding the progress of works being done by Uttar Pradesh Project Corporation, Nagar Nigam, and Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) being slow and receiving complaints regarding quality, he reprimanded the officers concerned. He warned that if any negligence is found in the quality of works, he will have to take strict action. He also instructed that if any negligence related to quality is found anywhere by the contractor, then along with blacklisting, action should be taken to send them to jail.

He expressed displeasure over the pending action taken reports in many cases of issues raised by the third-party agency of the Mela Authority regarding the quality of departmental works. He directed that the reports be submitted in respect of all of them before his next meeting.

While reviewing the projects being implemented by the health department, he asked the AD Health to also talk to private hospitals with a view to keep beds ready for emergencies so that beds can be kept reserved in private hospitals during Maha Kumbh.

While reviewing the coordination work with the railways, he appealed to the railway officials to expand their outreach programme and make arrangements to display the movement plan and map of the fair on the back of the ticket as much as possible. Along with this, he also instructed to make arrangements for setting up information and inquiry booths at the airport and to design them by taking professional advice.

With a view to enhancing the beauty of the city, like the last Kumbh, this time also various intersections, junctions, and walls are being beautified under Paint My City. Under this campaign, it is proposed to paint various places on different themes, under which various forms of Lord Vishnu will be depicted with Madhubani art at Malaka crossing, Krishna Leela at Bakshi Dam, Lord Buddha and Shiva Bhakti at Teliyar Ganj underpass, and so on.

Various signage plans are being made for the convenience of devotees. The Principal Secretary has specifically instructed to display all constitutional languages on the signage. Along with this, the officers of the Municipal Corporation have also been instructed to run a drive to remove the boards installed on the intersections while paying special attention to the fault lighting.

Before the meeting, the Principal Secretary inspected the Akshayvat, Patalpuri Temple Corridor, as well as the Hanuman Temple Corridor.
