Send Push

EastEnders actor and Strictly star Jamie Borthwick has some firm beliefs over banning life's pleasures while he’s in training for the dance show.

has been known as the loveable Jay Brown in soap for almost 20 years. Recently though he’s been wowing the judges on where he’s been receiving impressive scores with professional partner Michelle Tsiakkas. The 30-year-old actor won the special of the talent show last year with Nancy Xu - an achievement which has drawn criticism from some viewers who believe it has given him an unfair advantage over the other celebrity contestants. Jamie has insisted though that this stint is nothing like his previous experience in the ballroom. "This is a fresh challenge," he said. "It will be so different to be learning a new dance every week and for the public to have their say."

He has also spoken about any sacrifices he is making while he is in intense training and competing each week. And it seems he doesn’t believe in making any, in fact he’s adding some joy to his life. "No booze ban for me. I've never drunk ever in my life and no one loves me, so I can't do a sex ban!" he told in a frank confession. "No bans for me, just loads of food."

Jamie may be single at the moment but he was who joined the BBC soap at the end of last year as Nadine Keller. There were rumours the pair were growing close and Jazzy, who was thought to have dated former Strictly and Albert Square star , added to them when she shared a black and white selfie with Jamie. She captioned it: "Weekly gossip = complete."

When it comes to his appearance in Strictly helping his love life Jamie thinks he will undoubtedly get plenty of attention from the older ladies. "A load of mums [will throw themselves at me], which’ll be great," he admitted, adding, "Oh, my mum loves it. My nan loves it."

Jamie has also put to bed rumours that he may have been struck by the Strictly curse, saying "nobody has to worry". Fans noticed there was between him and pro Michelle, but the actor quickly dispelled any chance of romance as he revealed she 'mothers' him.

Laughing, he told : "The idea of that whole Strictly curse, well it's definitely not going to be a thing here because it would be doing that with my sister. Michelle and I met before Strictly and we instantly had a connection. But she is like a sister, an aunt, a mum, a best friend. She's looking after me, she's mothering me."
