Charles Leclerc shows true colours with comments about Lewis Hamilton

Charles Leclerc confessed that he was extremely excited to learn more about the mentality behind winning from his new team-mate,

The driver is also hoping to use Hamilton's knowledge to his own advantage, beating his new team-mate and securing more podiums in F1. Hamilton is set to leave Mercedes after 12 successful seasons and sign for Ferrari in a multi-year deal that shocked the racing

Carlos Sainz will vacate his seat at to make way for Hamilton, meaning that the 39-year-old will join Leclerc as the team's main drivers.

Speaking on F1's Beyond the Grid podcast, Leclerc said: "When a champion like Lewis gets to any team, it brings a lot of motivation out of every single person. He will come along with all the experience that he's had over the years with Mercedes a different way of working, a different vision and this is always benefitting a team. Obviously, for me, it's going to be amazing because I'll have in the same car as me the most successful driver in F1 history.

"That will be both extremely interesting for me to learn from one of the best ever, as well as a really big challenge and motivation to beat Lewis and to show what I'm capable of. With Lewis joining the team, he will definitely be a benchmark so it will be very important for me to be on my top level."

The young driver's ambition to match and surpass Hamilton highlights his confidence in his own ability and the potential growth he anticipates alongside the iconic racer. As Sainz prepares to depart Ferrari, Leclerc looked back fondly on their relationship - admitting that despite their clashes on the circuit, the pair are good friends.

"I think we get on very, very well," Leclerc said. "Yes, there have been many moments where, inside the helmet, I hated him and he hated me, because we didn't view the situation in the same way.

"But everything was fixed after a discussion between us two. We share many interests and we've had a lot of memorable moments that I will remember forever."

While the F1 community remains excited over driver changes for the 2025 season, the racers remain fixed on the current battle for the championship this season - and with only six Grand Prix remaining, it is anyone's trophy to snatch.
