Clive, 69, previously reflected on the impact Our Yorkshire Farm had on this marriage, and told TV host Lorraine Kelly: "Once a wedge begins to come between you for whatever reason... we were under pressure, it was crazy."

Furthermore, he highlighted the difficulties the couple faced due to their newfound celebrity status, telling the : "We filmed Our Yorkshire Farm, people loved it and the plan, Amanda's plan was we don't own the farm but this is security. We had this plan to make it more secure as a family so that's what drove her, it was amazing and successful.

"I handled it very badly, it was such a change in our life and I sadly made a right mess of things and I had a massive part to play in our relationship ending, a massive part to play."

'My anger drove Amanda away'

When Clive and Amanda announced they were breaking up, some wondered if infidelity had played a part. However, Clive insisted this wasn't the case, telling : “I’d like people to know that what caused the split between us wasn’t anyone else – it was the constant fighting. My anger drove Amanda away."

He added: “Looking back on it, I can see now that Amanda needed someone to talk to, someone she could trust, and at that stage, I wasn’t that person."

Admitting to drinking a "lot of whisky", he also said he put the farm before Amanda, conceding: "I know she dreaded coming home because she knew what was coming and that I would start a fight.I can see now that I was being hypocritical by thinking Amanda had left me behind with the success she had outside of the farm, because in some respects, I had always put the farm before her, so she was coming second to that."

Amanda linked to another older man

Following their split, Amanda began a relationship with web designer, Robert Davies, who is 22-years her senior. He was a friend of Clive's, who confirmed that Amanda's new relationship began after they had separated.

However, in 2024, Amanda revealed that her relationship with Robert had ended and that they were no-longer on speaking terms. Addressing her relationship with the septuagenarian, she told the Daily Mail: "I never set out looking for another relationship. Rob [Davies] was a friend that Clive and I had both known for a long time. He put together the farm website and the digital aspect of the business, everything that we couldn’t do. What he offered was conversation rather than confrontation, and Clive knew about it from the very beginning – he actually suggested Rob and I would be a good match."

She continued: "At that point, a few years ago now, Clive was also seeing someone else and was openly dating. It wasn’t a secret, everyone roundabout knew, even the children. But the impact of my and Rob’s relationship was far-reaching for everyone involved."

Explaining the interest around her relationship with Robert was "too much", she concluded: "and as a result Rob and I are no longer together or in touch".

'You don't always get the happy ending'

Appearing on the Lorraine show last week, Amanda admitted she hadn't got the "happy ending" she'd hoped for her family. Chatting to the Scottish host about her relationship with Clive, she said she felt that fans found her family so watchable and "relatable" because things didn't always go to plan.

Speaking candidly, she confessed: "You know, you don't always get the happy ending that you want and things go wrong but that's life isn't it and that's what it's all about. It's how you get through it, it's how you negotiate it. So I'm hoping people enjoy a taste of the countryside and watching us and the kids."

New show, new start

Despite no longer being a couple, Amanda and Clive are back for another adventure as More4 returns to the scenic Yorkshire Dales for Our Farm Next Door.

The new 10-part series document the beloved Yorkshire Shepherdess and her family - including her children and estranged husband Clive - as they tackle a substantial renovation project on a derelict farmhouse.

Commenting on her return to TV, Amanda said: "It is fantastic More4 have given us the opportunity to showcase what we do best, working as a team and battling the elements whilst trying to reinstate the farm next door to its former glory. It is no exaggeration to say that filming outdoors on an exposed hill end in Swaledale was at times a huge challenge for the Wise Owl film crew, but their dedication and enthusiasm has never waned. This new project has been a huge undertaking for the whole family and one we are excited to be able to share with the viewers at home.”
