ITV Big Brother contestant sparks controversy with 'red flag' comment

Big Brother fans reckon they've spotted a contestant who seems to have applied for the wrong show.

Some have gone so far as labelling it a 'red flag' moment, while most believe they may have actually been gunning for a spot on a different reality TV series.

Marcello was hoping to charm with his culinary skills, earning praises from another housemate, which he cheekily turned into a chance for a bit of flirting.

He remarked: "I used to be a chef. That's how I seduce all my women."

Viewers tuning in at home were quick to speculate that Marcello might be more suited to given his spiel about culinary courtship, reports .

Fans were quick to respond on X (formerly known as ), where one exclaimed: "Marcello realised he's too old for love island so he came to big brother instead." (sic)

Echoing the sentiment, another quipped: "Someone needs to tell Marcello that this is not love island and it is indeed big brother." (sic)

Not everyone was amused though, with some hinted that Marcello's conduct set off alarm bells.

A concerned viewer went online to voice their disquiet, writing: "Marcello is giving off incredibly big, red flag vibes. The way he talks about women is high key concerning." (sic)

Since the first live episode, newcomers were swiftly split into duelling camps right off the bat.

They faced a choice to pick the blue or red side, only to find out it determined whether they'd be Housemates or Non-Housemates, then thrown into a head-to-head clash across a slew of challenges.

Yesterday's episode revealed Dean, Nathan, Ryan and Baked Potato (Rosie) as the first housemates up for public vote to be booted out of the house by week's end.

The eviction voting commenced last night, with fans only able to cast their votes through the app. Viewers are being asked to select who they want to see evicted from the house.

Friday night will witness the first eviction from the Big Brother house, with hosts and catching all the juicy details in the first live interview on Big Brother: Late and Live afterwards.

Big Brother continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX followed by Big Brother: Late & Live at 10pm.
