Arne Slot expects to be without when they return from the international break.

Alisson missed in September but came through the win at Wolves last weekend and started against on Saturday. He was unable to complete the full 90 minutes, though, limping off during the second half at Selhurst Park.

With backup missing out through illness, Vitezslav Jaros was handed a debut from the bench. The Czech stopper kept Palace at bay, though, ensuring

Liverpool aren't back in action for a fortnight, welcoming to Anfield. According to Slot, though, that may well come too early for Alisson to be back in contention as he all but ruled the Brazil No.1 out of the Selecao's upcoming fixtures.

“The fixtures are difficult but I have also felt how difficult away is and how difficult Crystal Palace away is," Slot told TNT Sports after his team's victory. "We will probably not be as dominant as we were today when we face away but both fixtures are difficult.

"But it’s very good that we won these games and it’s up to us to show ourselves in the big games as well. Unfortunately Ali won’t be with us in those matches I assume, if I saw how he walked off the pitch.”

Captain Virgil van Dijk was similarly downbeat about the goalkeeper, saying: "Alisson's injury doesn't look good. It looks like a hamstring injury which was already bothering him, and from which he recovered”.

Slot also spoke highly of Jaros after a "really good" debut. "He wanted to go [back on loan to Sturm Graz] and have playing time," he admitted. "We said at a club like this we need a good third goalkeeper as well."

Palace had the ball in Liverpool's net inside the first minute on Saturday, only for Eddie Nketiah to be flagged offside. Jota put Slot's team in front in the ninth minute, and had chance to add to his early strike, but one goal was ultimately enough.

"[I'm] really satisfied with how we started the season. It is a good start not only the results, but I liked our performance today," said Slot, whose team have 15 points from a possible 18. "There was a period of the game we conceded free-kicks and that was a difficult period. For the last 10 minutes we kept the ball very well."
