Mariah Carey's sister's tragic last days shared in heartbreaking detail

The final days of Mariah Carey's sister have been described in devastating detail as it was revealed her dad's final wish wasn't fulfilled.

The singer's dad, Alfred Roy, died in 2002, over 20 years before her sister Alison's death in August this year. It was claimed his final wish was for the sisters to be reunited - something that sadly never happened.

The All I Want For Christmas songstress, 55, wasn't on speaking terms with her sister, 63, and sadly it's thought her older sibling died with just her friend by her side. It's claimed David Baker was next to Alison when she passed away in August after spending weeks being treated by a hospice-at-home team in her New York home.

Describing her last days, friend David told The US Sun: "Two days earlier I told her I would never forget her, that I loved her and that she would always have a place in my heart. In a barely audible voice, she said 'I love you.' Those were her last words. By the next morning, she had become totally unresponsive. She died two days later."

Alison's death wasn't the only tragedy that weekend, either, with her estranged mother, Patricia, also passing away at the age of 87. Mariah had released a touching statement following the double tragedy. She told PEOPLE at the time: "My heart is broken that I've lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day.

"I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed," added Carey. “I appreciate everyone's love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time."

However, the statement was met with uncertainty by David, who claims to be unsure at its sincerity. He continued to say she could have made an effort to speak to her sibling one last time, at least for her dad's sake: "Mariah has now denied forever the last wish of both her father and her sister," he added.

David previously revealed how Alison had been suffering from a "problem with internal organs". He described Alison as a "highly intelligent, warm, and sensitive person" as he opened up on their nine-year friendship.

Speaking of their estrangement, Mariah confessed in her memoir titled The Meaning of Mariah Carey, that it was best for her to cut ties with her sister and brother Morgan. She explained the decision was for her own wellbeing and described it as being "emotionally and physically safer for me not to have any contact".
