Missing Victoria Taylor search volunteers warned 'stay away from riverbanks'

Volunteers have been warned to "stay away from riverbanks" as efforts to locate her enter a second week.

Victoria Taylor, 34,, North Yorkshire, and was seen on CCTV buying a drink at a BP garage on Welham Road. She went missing at about 9am on September 30.

She left behind her two-year-old daughter and fiancé Matthew. Her sudden vanishing triggered a huge response from volunteers who have turned out in the hope of finding her.

But friend and group administrator for 'The search for page Charlotte Cundill warned people searching for Victoria to stay safe. It comes as heavy rainfall battered parts of the UK overnight.

"It's a wet day, so please wrap up and go careful," she said. "I'd advise people to stay away from the river banks today if possible due to the overnight." The group now has an estimated 8,000 members with volunteers vowing to find "beautiful" Victoria.

Victoria was last seen at about 11:53am on the Monday at Malton Bus Station on Railway Street. Police have carried out extensive enquiries and remain "open minded."

Last Tuesday, police recovered several personal items belonging to Victoria close to the River Derwent. The area is currently a main area of focus for investigators and the search is expected to continue into the coming days.

In , Inspector Martin Dennison from said: “This is an extremely difficult time for Victoria’s family, and we are continuing to do all we can to try and find her.

“The focus of our search remains the area around the River Derwent and Victoria’s family members are aware of this and the wider strategy that is in place. The family and the police understand the local community wanting to show their support with the searches for Victoria, but we urge people to exercise caution when searching particularly near to the river.”

Victoria's sisters have launched an emotional appeal for her to contact them as divers searched the river. Her sisters Emma and Heidi said they "currently feel sick, distraught and lost."

In a statement, they said: "We currently feel sick, distraught and lost following the disappearance of Vixx, but we are trying to focus on the children in the family to maintain a sense of routine at this difficult time. We would like to thank all the emergency services and volunteers who have assisted in the search for Vixx so far.

"The wider local community has also rallied around, and we are eternally grateful for the support that they have given to us, Vixx’s family." Emma added: "Vicky, just come home. We just want her home. She's got a little baby and her partner. We're just so worried."
