Sir Steve Redgrave is getting his skates on for Dancing on Ice and says the show will feel just like the old days.

The five-time Olympic champion became the third celebrity revealed for 2025. And the 62-year-old said of the ITV hit: “It’s like going back to being an athlete again. I’ve been competing most of my life.” Sir Steve is set to join Traitors runner-up Mollie Pearce and former TOWIE star Ferne McCann on the ice next year. Mollie, 22, who is also a model, said: “It will be fun. I want to challenge myself. I’m ready for the challenge.”

An hour after Sir Steve’s participation was announced yesterday, so was that of long-time Coronation Street actor Sam Aston. Sir Steve claimed his first Olympic medal in Los Angeles in 1984. Over the next 16 years, he racked up an unparalleled level of success, including nine victories at the World Rowing Championships.

The sporting legend’s crowning glory came at the 2000 Sydney Games when he became the first rower to win five consecutive golds at the Olympics. He retired after that success and duly won BBC Sports Personality of the Year. Sir Steve was awarded a knighthood in the 2001 New Year Honours,

He will be hoping to succeed Sam’s former Corrie colleague who won Dancing on Ice this year with pro skater Amani Fancy. They beat Made In Chelsea’s Miles Nazaire and former Radio 1 DJ Adele Roberts in the final. Training for the 2025 series is expected to start next week.
