Vinnie Jones' four-word verdict on marriage plans with new partner after wife's death

The actorhas issued a four-word verdict on whether he’ll marry his current girlfriend.

Former footballer, Vinnie, 59, is currently dating fellow actor and script consultant Emma Ford. The pair, who fell in love during filming for Vinnie Jones in The Country, have been photographed together several times this year.

Ahead of his appearance in a musical stage version of Only Fools and Horses in which he appears, was asked about the possibility that he and Emma would get married.

In response, he told the : “I’d never say never again! I ain’t got a crystal ball. If the game’s going well and you’re winning one-nil, don’t make any substitutions. Keep it as it is, keep it cool.”

and Emma’s relationship comes after the former footballer lost his wife Tanya to cancer in 2019, just before the Covid-19 pandemic. Following this tragedy, Vinnie famously told journalist that he wouldn’t marry again.

Reflecting on those comments and how he has fallen in love again, said: “I never thought this would happen in a million years. You think and say a lot of things when the tragedy first happens.

“I don’t I think I said I would never have a girlfriend again, but I didn’t think I would at the time. As time goes on you move centimetres forward. Different things come to life again in your body and your soul and your heart.”

So far 2024 has been a barnstorming year for who starred in Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen and had his Discovery + faming show renewed for a second series ahead of his end-of-year appearance in a production of Only Fools and Horses.

Earlier this year, he opened up to about his love of and his grief. Describing what he’s learnt he ruminated: “What I’ve learned is that grief doesn’t have to be all gloom and doom – grief can be lovely memories.

“The only way I can move forward is to be positive. Yes, you do have little waves that come over you sometimes. But like a dog coming out of the river, you shake it off and run off to chase the ball again.”
