New Delhi [India], October 14 (ANI): The Central government has granted 'Z' category Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) security cover to Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot.
Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued a written order in this regard and the messages were communicated to the CRPF last week following a recent security analysis threat report prepared by the Intelligence Bureau, said sources.
The CRPF personnel have physically taken over the security of the Karnataka Governor while some other procedures linked to his security will be completed by this week, sources, privy to the development, told ANI on condition of anonymity.
As per sources, Gehlot will be provided the Z category security cover in Karnataka only.
The 76-year-old leader assumed office as the Governor of Karnataka in July 2021. He is the 13th Governor of Karnataka, being the first person serving as the Governor of Karnataka from Madhya Pradesh.
Gehlot held the position of Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment in the Central Government from 2014 to 2021.
Additionally, he also served as the Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha and was a member of both the Parliamentary Board and the Central Election Committee of the BJP. (ANI)
