Why Indians don't want to drive a car with gears

Send Push

The demand for automatic cars has increased unexpectedly in the country in the last few years. There are many reasons behind this increasing demand. Users now want to get rid of the hassle of changing gears, but this is not the only reason. According to a recent report released by JATO Dynamics, the demand for automatic cars in total car sales in 2020 was 16 percent, while now it has increased to 26 percent.

Stop-and-go driving trend

The demand for stop-and-go driving has also increased in urban areas. In this, users are preferring vehicles that start by applying brakes and then pressing the accelerator. These are called vehicles with automatic transmission. The biggest feature of these vehicles is that there is no need to change gears in them. This makes driving very easy during traffic jams.

According to a report by JATO Dynamics, one out of every three cars in 20 major cities of the country is an automatic car. These cars fall in the premium segment, and their price ranges from Rs 60,000 to Rs 2 lakh.

Automatic transmission models

Due to the increasing demand for automatic transmission, many automobile companies have launched their 83 models. These include Maruti, Toyota, Mahindra, Tata, Hyundai, and Nissan. At the same time, some companies like Honda have gone a step ahead of automatic transmission and introduced CVT transmission. AMT transmission has a clutch, while in CVT transmission the clutch work is done with the help of sensors. This makes vehicles with CVT transmission much smoother than automatic transmission vehicles. Thus, the increasing demand for automatic cars shows that technological advancement and consumer preferences are changing in the Indian market. People are now looking for a convenient and safe driving experience, and automatic cars are meeting this need.
