Ex-Chelsea star warned over 'jeopardy' of Liverpool move as Reds prepare January bid

Former star Christian Pulisic has been warned against a January move to . The 26-year-old has started the season superbly with , scoring five times already from midfield.

But Herculez Gomez, who also won 24 caps with the USA before retiring in 2016, has warned his compatriot that he could struggle to replicate his current impact on games if he moves. "AC Milan, it's a massive club," he told .

"And he's finally found a place where he's valued. e's finally found a place where it doesn't matter who the coach is, he's comfortable in multiple positions. I wouldn't just jeopardise that for a move back to the Premier League.

"And I understand that Liverpool is a big club, sure, it is. But by no stretch of the imagination would I go out there and say it's a much bigger club than AC Milan. I like the fact that he's found a place where he's thriving. I like the fact that he feels comfortable in a setup and he is the man there."

Gomez also believes that Pulisic is viewed as a senior player at Milan, and tipped him to become captain under Paulo Fonseca. "They think of him as a leader," he added. "They think of him as an important piece to that puzzle there."

in the league phase last month, Pulisic still managed to catch the eye. He put the hosts ahead with a crisp finish just three minutes in, and was a constant threat over the 90 minutes.

Liverpool remain in the market for new attacking players, with the future of looking increasingly uncertain. Despite the Egyptian striker being out of contract at the season, talks over a new deal are yet to begin.

Regardless, Slot has enjoyed a superb start to his reign on Merseyside. The club sit top of the Premier League table, and the prospect of a title challenge may prove enough to persuade Pulisic with Milan currently down in sixth in Italy's top flight.
