When you think of a connected home, you might think of smart speakers or clever connected lightbulbs - but have you ever considered smart radiator thermostats? They might not be the most eye-catching products, but investing in them could save you a whole lot of money down the track.

Amazon is selling a three-pack of the , with these nifty wired smart thermostats essentially controlling your boiler flow - you can also hook it up to water-based underfloor heating if you have that, too. This gives you the power to manage the temperature of different rooms across your house with a touch of a button on your smartphone. You can set schedules to suit your routine, meaning you'll be warm when you want to be, and not blasting the heating when you don't need to - which is money down the drain.

To use these smart thermostats, you'll need to invest in a starter kit - and you can get the . When you've got that sorted, you're off - Tado° says the products work with pretty much all heating systems. Renters can also get in on the fun - you'll just have to make sure you replace the old setup before you move out.

While it might sound high-tech - and it is - it's easy to use, with the app helping you through set-up and guiding you through how best to use the product, so you can really start saving money on energy bills and tailoring it to your needs. And from just over 5,200 global ratings, these thermostats have garnered an impressive 4.5 star rating on Amazon.

"Installation was effortless. The instructions for the wired thermostat were a breeze to follow. Likewise, fitting the thermostatic valves to replace the original thermostatic control units was dead easy. We've have the Tado system running for a few weeks now and are massively impressed on how well it performs," one happy shopper wrote.

"App is very good at providing instructions to wire up and configure but once the first is done, the remainder follow easily. My installation has been in place now for a few months. No problems so far and works well," another said. While a third was simple in their praise: "Very useful product for regulating the temperature of radiators."

However, some had some gripes to share - like one shopper who complained about the monthly subscription needed if you want to use the auto-assist mode: "It is about £25 a year and is used for automatically shutting off the radiator if it detects an open window as well as geo mapping. Both very cool features but why is it OK to charge a subscription for this? If I buy a product it should be fully functional without me having to spend more money." Another noted: "Does what it says, but to buy additional valve on its own is just really expensive."

If you wanted to shop around, the for one from Screwfix. Meanwhile, the is a bit cheaper, at £46 for one from Wickes.
