Mumbai: In a significant development, Mumbai resident doctors have strongly opposed the proposed transfer of an Assistant Professor of Pharmacology from Nair Hospital to Sion Hospital. The doctors have expressed grave concerns, citing the professor’s involvement in a misconduct case, including serious allegations of molestation.In a formal letter addressed to the Dean, the resident doctors detailed their discomfort and fear surrounding the transfer. They stressed that such a move would directly impact their sense of security, safety, and mental well-being within the institution. Working under these circumstances, they stated, would take a significant toll on their mental health and academic progress.Additionally, a junior doctor from another department has submitted a letter revealing disturbing details about accused Dr. behavior. According to the letter, Professor is allegedly engaged in inappropriate behavior, including coercing the complainant into uncomfortable situations. The victim recounted how he manipulated them into discussing sensitive matters and attempted to involve them in unrelated issues. The situation escalated when the professor allegedly tried to damage the complainant’s phone after they refused his demands.The victim also mentioned being put under immense psychological pressure by the professor which has had a severe impact on their studies. The letter was sent to the Student Grievance Committee and the MARD (Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors) Secretary, highlights the gravity of the situation and the urgency for action to be taken. In light of these revelations, the resident doctors have urged the Dean to halt the transfer and reconsider the decision. They emphasized that the safety and well-being of students and staff should be prioritized, and requested immediate action to prevent any further distress within the institution.
