NEW DELHI: In a case of road rage on Monday, a collision between two bikes in GTB Enclave in Shahdara sparked an altercation, which quickly escalated into violence, and resulted in the death of a 22-year-old.

The man's friend also sustained injuries in the melee. The deceased, identified as Anurag Tiwari , was a resident of GTB Enclave. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at GTB Hospital. His injured friend, Rinku, was receiving treatment. According to police reports, the incident unfolded around 12.50am when Anurag and Rinku took a right turn towards Dilshad Garden on GT Road. Their bike collided with another two-wheeler with four occupants, allegedly coming from the wrong side.

The collision sparked a heated altercation. The four men allegedly attacked Rinku and one of them stabbed him in the arm. Later, Anurag was also stabbed. The attackers fled the scene as a PCR van approached.

The victims were rushed to GTB Hospital, where Anurag was declared dead.

GTB Enclave police station registered a case under Sections 103(1) (murder) and 3(5) (common intention) of BNS. A senior police officer confirmed that four men had been identified as suspects in connection with the incident. "We have formed multiple teams to crack the case," police said, adding that they were also scanning CCTV footage to ascertain the sequence of events and routes taken by the accused to flee.

The latest incident adds to the growing number of road rage deaths in Delhi. In Aug, a man was stabbed to death by a man and his accomplices, two hours after a minor collision between their vehicles. Police said both groups were acquainted with each other and resided in the same area of central Delhi. In the same month, a woman was shot in east Delhi when she was headed to a bank with her husband and two children. Their bike nearly collided with a scooty, setting off a violent confrontation. It culminated in the scooty rider chasing the couple and firing at them, killing the woman.

In another case reported in March, an argument over touching a bike led to the murder of a man near Rohini.
