Send Push
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday rejected a series of petitions seeking review of its earlier ruling, which held that states are constitutionally empowered to make sub-classifications within the Scheduled Castes for granting reservation.

The seven-judge Constitution bench , which included Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justices B R Gavai, Vikram Nath, Bela Trivedi, Pankaj Mithal, Manoj Misra, and Satish Chandra Sharma said that there was no apparent error in the record of the original judgment.

The apex court also denied requests to have the review petitions heard in open court, effectively upholding its previous stance on the matter.
