Video circulating online shows Tesla catching fire in a Florida garage that had been flooded with saltwater due to Hurricane Helene .
Pinellas County government officials released the shocking video footage on Saturday as a warning to others, the New York Post reported.
The fire, which started underneath the electric ride, engulfed it completely in less than a minute, and thick smoke began to fill the room as can be seen in the surveillance footage of the cluttered garage.
The footage was released to alert electric car owners to take precautions after the damaging hurricane hit parts of Florida, North Carolina, and several other southeastern states.
Pinellas officials urged electric car and bike owners to take safety measures amid a storm surge from saltwater.
They also advised people to not park their cars or bikes inside their homes or garages and to move EVs at a distance of 50 feet from any other combustible material. The county also recommended having the car towed to a dealership for inspection before driving it again after the storm.
Hurricane Helene made landfall on the Florida shore Thursday night as a Category 4 storm with 140 mph winds, then tore through Georgia, the Carolinas, and Tennessee, resulting in hundreds of water rescues .
At least 91 people have lost their lives to the storm, and the number is expected to rise. The hurricane, accompanied by winds and huge devastation, and officials struggled to deliver water and other supplies to the area surrounded by precarious floodwaters.
President Joe Biden described the storm's power as "stunning" and pledged to provide the affected states with "everything we have" for the recovery effort.
