Big News for Central Employees and Pensioners: 4% DA Hike Expected Soon

Send Push

Central employees and pensioners are likely to receive good news soon, as the central government is expected to increase the Dearness Allowance (DA) by 4 percent. This increase will benefit a large number of central employees and pensioners, leading to a noticeable rise in their salaries.

However, despite this positive development, there has been disappointment regarding the pending DA arrears. Additionally, the government is not planning to form the 8th Pay Commission, which has also come as a shock to many. Although the government has not made an official announcement, media reports are suggesting that a DA increase is on the way.

Will the DA Increase Before Diwali?

The central government may raise the Dearness Allowance by 4 percent before Diwali, providing a significant boost for employees and pensioners. If this increase happens, the DA would rise from 50 percent to 54 percent.

The last DA hike occurred in March 2024, when it was increased from 46 percent to 50 percent. If the DA is raised again, it will be considered a major benefit for central employees, resulting in a substantial increase in their salaries.

For example, if an employee’s salary is ₹40,000, a 4 percent DA increase would add an extra ₹1,600 per month, amounting to an annual increase of ₹19,200. These estimates are based on calculations reported in the media.

No 8th Pay Commission: A Setback

While the DA hike is good news, there is disappointment regarding the 8th Pay Commission. The central government has decided not to form a new Pay Commission. Earlier, there was speculation that the Modi government would form the 8th Pay Commission after ten years, but this now seems unlikely, which is considered a significant setback for central employees.

The government typically forms a new Pay Commission every ten years to revise salaries and benefits for government employees. The last Seventh Pay Commission was established in 2014 and implemented on January 1, 2016, bringing substantial benefits at that time.

Conclusion

In conclusion, while central employees and pensioners can look forward to a possible 4 percent DA increase, the government’s decision not to form the 8th Pay Commission is disappointing. Employees are awaiting the official announcement regarding the DA hike, which is expected to bring much-needed relief to their salaries.
