30 Naxalites Killed in Chhattisgarh Encounter; Security forces recover 28 bodies, seize a cache of weapons including AK-47s

Raipur, Chhattisgarh: In a major crackdown on Naxalites, security forces killed over 30 Naxalites in an encounter on the border of Dantewada and Narayanpur districts on Friday. IG Sundararaj P told Daily Bhaskar that 28 bodies have been recovered so far, and the death toll may rise.

In a forest between Nendur and Thulthuli villages in the Orchha police station area on the Dantewada-Narayanpur district border. The firing continues intermittently for 2 hours, after which a search operation was launched. Till 6 pm, the jawans have recovered a sizeable cache of weapons that include AK-47s and SLR rifles.

IG Sundarraj called it the biggest Naxal operation so far. Six months back, 29 Naxalites were killed in Kanker.

Security forces have killed 171 Naxalites this year. So far this year, security forces have killed 171 Naxalites in different encounters in the Bastar region. The Bastar region consists of seven districts. Some of them include Dantewada and Narayanpur.

This is the third encounter in 11 days. There was an encounter also in Sukma district yesterday. While two Naxalites were killed in the encounter, their bodies were taken away by their associates.
