AL Ain, Abu Dhabi : reopened its doors to visitors last Monday, September 30, with a variety of special surprises and interactive activities from 9 AM to 6 PM.

Some of the fun aspects of reopening include the latest addition to the Zoo’s attractions: the biggest and most engaging Amur Tiger Exhibit. This interactive exhibit will provide visitors with interesting facts and stories about these amazing animals, creating educational tours specifically designed for school students. All visitors will enjoy a touch table that shows models of tiger skulls and paw prints, creating hands-on learning as well.

There are two exhibits in the Siberian enclosure, the first of which is a broad outdoor space allowing visitors to take in views of the stripy, reddish orange-furred Amur tigers by moving about freely in an environment styled to replicate their wild habitat. Amenities for the area include three water pools and a cave space, as well as shade structures, misting systems, and cooling platforms. The second would be an under-the-scenes area that mimics nature while optimizing conditions to allow for exceptional care of the tigers and adds enrichment to the visit for the visitor.

There is also a Sand Cat Conservation Center, which will be Al Ain Zoo’s sanctuary for the imperiled Arabian sand cat. Specialized in breeding programs, this center endeavors to scientifically strengthen the genetic stock of the species both locally and globally, exhibiting other lesser known animals besides. Visitors will have a chance to witness not one, but three newly born Arabian sand cat kittens while learning about their breeding journey, besides knowing the rarity and uniqueness of this breed. Names for these kittens, selected in an online vote, will also be revealed. Educational tours, in addition to an awareness station, will be presented to the public regarding how Zoo researchers are essential to monitoring sand cats in the wild and demonstrations will be given of the specific tools they use to execute their research and conservation work.

Yet there is still ample opportunity to visit most the landmarks, such as Al Ain Safari adventures, Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Center, and interactive feeding sessions with lions, giraffes, crocodiles, birds, and several others from the Arab, African, and Asian continents. More visitors will be given the chance to hold environments accommodating chimpanzees, gorillas, reptiles, penguins, lemurs, and many more birds. Children will be able to enjoy rides on animals and watch displays of desert birds of prey. Enclosures like the Royal Arabian Oryx will remain at the heart of the zoo experience, along with services like Ahlaan, and detailed transportation options throughout the park.
