Jordan Henderson hands Chelsea warning in blunt Trent Alexander-Arnold demand

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has been urged to repeat his goalscoring for England, by former Three Lions skipper Jordan Henderson.

The 34-year-old left Anfield, last summer, to join Steven Gerrard in his controversial Al-Ettifaq move. Since then, the midfielder's time around the England set-up has diminished with his spell in Saudi Arabia cut-short after six months as he returned to Europe - signing for Ajax.

Henderson's successful spell with the armband at Anfield has not been forgotten, however, as the ex-Sunderland academy graduate returned to Merseyside to see his former teammates and new head coach, Arne Slot, before the international break.

Alexander-Arnold, who has been the subject of contract scrutiny as he heads into the final six months of his current deal at Anfield, was on target for England in their 3-1 win over Greece. The 25-year-old has won player of the match in each of Lee Carsley's three wins as England caretaker manager.

Following the triumph, he posted: "Top Left. Top Team. Top Night." Among the commenters was Henderson who called on the full-back to repeat history when Chelsea visit next week. He added: "Not bad... this weekend again please."

The visit of 's side is arguably one of the toughest of Slot's era at Liverpool. The Italian was recently crowned manager of the month for a superb September as Chelsea established themselves back in the upper reaches of the Premier League table.

They face a Liverpool side who went into the international break top of the league, although some skeptics would argue their early season fixtures have been easy on them. Chelsea's trip to Merseyside is the first of a gruelling spell for the north west club as they face Arsenal, RB Leipzig, a double-header with Brighton and Bayer Leverkusen.
