Government-owned telecom service provider BSNL has launched a cheap recharge scheme for its customers. The new plan comes when private major operators Jio, Airtel, and Vi have raised mobile tariff as high as 15% on average. This new plan will ease the burden on users after private companies have recently hiked their rates. The latest plan from BSNL is priced at less than Rs 400 and comes with long validity, free calling, data, and SMS. Here are all the details you need to know.

BSNL 345 prepaid recharge plan

The plan costs Rs 345 and supports a long validity of 60 days with free calling and 100 free SMS per day. Along with that, it will offer the users 1GB of daily data after which the speed will be reduced to 40Kbps.

This affordable offer by BSNL may be posing a threat to the private telecommunication companies such as Jio, Airtel, and VI because no other offers the same pocket-friendly recharge plan.

As BSNL has been offering its plans at competitive pricing, it has begun attracting more users; thus, the company has to be constantly coming up with new cost-effective plans to maintain its user base. As a result, the government-owned BSNL acquired a whopping 29.4 lakh new subscribers in July 2024, as private companies, including Jio, Airtel, and Vi, had lost millions of subscribers as seen in the latest data from TRAI.

Jio lost 7,50,000 users, Airtel lost 16.9 lakh users, and Vi lost 14.1 lakh users. That brought their customer base down to 47.576 crore, 38.732 crore, and 21.588 crore, respectively. In the meantime, BSNL added 29.3 crore customers, growing its mobile user count to 8.851 crore.

With these developments, in July, the customer market share of Jio, Airtel, and Vi stood at 40.68 percent, 33.12 percent, and 18.46 percent respectively, which is down from previous months. BSNL, however, took a customer market share of 7.59 percent.
