Gwalior, October 6: Arshdeep Singh (3-14) and Varun Chahar (3-31) claimed three wickets each as India restricted Bangladesh to 127 runs in the first T20I at the Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium here on Sunday.

Opting to bat first, Bangladesh openers Liton Das and Parvez Hossain Emon failed to provide their team with a solid start. Arshdeep dismissed Liton (4) in the fifth over of the match.

In the third over, the left-arm pacer cleaned up Emon (8), putting more pressure on Bangladesh. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Towhid Hridoy tried to build a partnership and kept the scoreboard ticking in the powerplay. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav introduced the spin of Varun Chahar in the fifth over, which Shanto capitalized on. The Bangladesh captain hit two consecutive fours and a six off the last ball of the over, conceding 15 runs.

Mayank Yadav, playing his first T20I, came into the attack in the final over of the powerplay and bowled a maiden over at a speed of 147.3 kmph. He joined the likes of Ajit Agarkar and Arshdeep Singh in bowling a maiden over on his T20I debut.

Bangladesh were 39/2 after six overs.

However, Chahar dismissed Hridoy (12) in his next over. Hardik Pandya took a catch at long-on.

Mahmudullah came to bat at number five, but could not stay. Mayank claimed his first international wicket in his second over, dismissing Mahmudullah for just one run, reducing Bangladesh to 43/4.

Shanto shared a brief 14-run stand with Zakir Ali. Chahar struck again to send half the side back to the pavilion.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz joined his captain. The duo added 18 runs. Washington Sundar dismissed Shanto (27) with a return catch.

Tailenders Rishad Hossain (11) and Taskin Ahmed (12) added a few runs while Mehidy anchored the innings from the other end.

Pandya removed Shariful Islam (1) before Arshdeep cleaned up Mustafizur Rahman (1) with the final ball of the match. Mehidy remained unbeaten on 35 off 32 balls, with three fours, as Bangladesh were all out for 127 in 19.5 overs.

Brief Scores: Bangladesh 127 all out in 19.5 overs (Mehidy Hasan Miraz 35 not out, Najmul Hossain Shanto 27; Arshdeep Singh 3-14, Varun Chahar 3-31) vs India.
