After a series of mid-range and budget offers, HMD seems to be now working on a flagship finally, and this could debut soon. The phone in question would allegedly be called ‘Moon Knight’. The chipset and hardware details of the phone have been revealed in a new leak. The HMD Moon Knight will thus sit above the HMD Skyline and other models. Everything that is revealed here goes:.

HMD Moon Knight tipped to launch as flagship phone
  • Going into details, HMD Moon Knight is said to be in development with the model number “TA-1691”.
  • The device will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, thus putting it beneath the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and before the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4/Elite SoC.
  • The phone in question might rock an FHD+ pOLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate.
  • Quad camera on the back, so we are pretty much interested to know if there is a telephoto sensor in the mix as well.
  • POGO Pin connector on the phone, hence possibly supporting modular accessories like the HMD Fusion.
  • There may also be other features available on board including 5G support, stereo speakers and an aluminium frame.

While the details of the specifications are a secret, the source assures that it will reveal renders and specifications very soon. HMD’s last attempt at flagship was the Nokia 9 PureView which debuted way back in early 2019. It was an instant head turner with its unique 5-camera setup at the back. All five cameras took photos at once and the phone processed all the images to produce an improved final picture.

Finally, this all turned out to be hype on papers only and didn’t quite work the way it should have in reality. The phone wasn’t well received and there could be many reasons. We just hope that things will be different this time around when the upcoming HMD Moon Knight flagship rolls into town and sees proper use of hardware, especially when competition is racing ahead.
