Udaipur, October 5 (Udaipur Kiran) Taru Surana, a Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) officer and Inspector General in the Registration and Stamps Department, Udaipur, passed away on Saturday due to dengue. She had been battling the disease for a month and was undergoing treatment in Chennai for some time.

Taru Surana, a resident of Panchwati, Udaipur, first experienced high fever on September 6. After initial home treatment failed to improve her condition, tests at Geetanjali Hospital confirmed that she was positive for dengue. On September 13, she was admitted to the hospital, but her condition did not improve. On the advice of doctors at MGM Hospital in Chennai, she was airlifted to Chennai on September 18 for specialized treatment.

Taru, the eldest of three siblings, had a persistent high fever, but her platelet count did not drop significantly, which doctors said was a rare occurrence in dengue cases. After two weeks of treatment in Chennai, she passed away in the early hours of Saturday.
