It was during The Game Awards 2022 that Death Stranding 2: On The Beach was announced for launch sometime in 2025. Then, most of the main actors from the first game are reported to be returning; those include Norman Reedus, Léa Seydoux, and Troy Baker; however, the details for the story remain cryptic. Thus far, no release date has been revealed for the game and now, in another update, Game Director Hideo Kojima said the group will announce a launch date sometime next year.

Kojima said while there was a release date set for the game in question, that would be confirmed sometime in 2025.

“I haven’t said the release date today, but the release date has already been decided, and we’re working hard to get there. We’re currently working on it, but there are a lot of things going on with regards to the timing of its release. We’ve been promised it will come out sometime in 2025, so it will come out next year, so we’ll announce it sometime next year,” Kojima said towards the end of his presentation, translated from Japanese.

“Well, as I said at the start, I’m actually building the game, so it’s not ready yet, but I am really happy with it, and it’s a lot better than Death Stranding 1,” he added.

At TGS, Kojima presented even more Death Stranding 2 gameplay footage with some new cast members on board, including the director of the movie Mad Max and actress Elle Fanning. Kojima also unleashed a new picture mode in the game: “Photo Shoot Event.”

Kojima is also linked to the film adaptation of Death Stranding through a partnership with independent film production company A24. Death Stranding 2: On The Beach will release for PS5 sometime in 2025.
